Custom injection molder MCG Plastics Inc. is expanding floor space in its Bay City, Mich., plant.
“We expanded seven years ago and have filled up with molding machines,” Marty Garza, MCG president, owner and founder said in a telephone interview. “The expansion will address this.”
MCG will add a 15,200-square-foot addition by December. The extra space will accommodate warehousing that has been crowded out of the manufacturing floor and a new truck bay. Garza said his firm also might relocate its 10,000-square-foot tool and die operation housed elsewhere to the addition. The molding facility now has about 12,000 square feet.
MCG runs 32 injection presses with clamps from 50 to 500 tons. Garza said he wants to add larger tonnage presses and expand the firm’s sales force as market conditions dictate. MCG supplies customers in dental, medical, automotive, construction and other industries.
Bangor Township officials estimated MCG will add four jobs as a result of the expansion. Garza said his firm, which now employs 25, probably will add as many as ten more as the company exploits improving market conditions. MCG will receive a township tax abatement on the $627,400 price tag for its expansion and improvements.
Garza said he established MCG 22 years ago.
