One expansion is leading right into another for materials firm Emerald Performance Materials LLC. The Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio-based firm will add another reactor later this year to make K-Flex-brand non-phthalate plasticizers at its plant in Kalama, Wash. Emerald officials announced the new reactor at a recent event in Kalama that marked a doubling of K-Flex capacity at the site since 2011. K-Flex is used in adhesives, PVC compounds, coatings and latex polymer applications. The firm’s other plastic-related products include epoxy resins and carbon black additives. Emerald also opened a K-Flex plant in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, late last year. The firm is owned by financial firm Sun Capital Partners Inc. of Boca Raton, Fla. | |
